Eyebrow threading is a practice that has been around for centuries. This procedure is used for eyebrow shaping as well as removing hair from the cheeks, upper lip, and chin. Some men use this procedure to remove the hair from between their eyebrows or to remove facial hair in the beard and mustache area. Eyebrow threading is popular in the Middle East, India, and some Asian countries. It is slowly becoming fashionable in the United States as an alternative to waxing and plucking.
Threading is done in salons with one simple tool. This tool is a piece of one hundred percent cotton thread. One end of the thread is held between the teeth or is anchored around the neck of the beautician and the other end is held firmly with the left hand. The index and middle fingers of the right hand then form a loop in the center of the string. Some beauticians will apply baby powder to the eyebrows before they begin. The baby powder will absorb any oils around the hair follicles that may cause the hairs to slip from the thread as it is pulled.
EYEBROW THREADING
The thread is then rolled over the surface of the skin collecting the hairs as it moves. The thread is then used to lift the hairs out by the root. This procedure does involve a small amount of pain. The amount of pain will vary from person to person. Many people find that this is the best way to get a great arch to their eyebrow. Because threading is so effective in removing even baby fine hairs, make up goes on much smoother.
This procedure is more efficient than tweezers because it pulls out a row of hairs out at a time instead of plucking them one by one. Tweezers can often nip the skin causing small marks. Threading eliminates this entirely.
Waxing is another popular procedure that threading surpasses in accuracy. A person skilled in threading can give your brows a smooth and neat look. When your eyebrows are waxed a layer of skin is pulled up with the wax. This can be painful and bad for the health of the skin around your eyes. Threading does not disturb the skin at all and can be done just as quickly as waxing.
Eyebrow threading also reduces the irritation often accompanied with other procedures. Excessive tugging and pulling by tweezers can lead to an earlier onset of wrinkles. Some people will experience some irritation and redness but these discomforts disappear quickly compared to waxing and tweezing. Eyebrow threading should be done once every two weeks though some people may be able to go longer between treatments.
